Representative Work

  • Toronto-Dominion Bank, N.A. v. Lloyd’s Underwriters et al. – Defended 2 insurers in an insurance tower in a $400M professional liability claim commenced by TD Bank, N.A. arising from a $1.2-billion Ponzi scheme perpetrated in Florida by a rogue client and former employees. 
  • Confidential Client – Retained as coverage counsel to provide advice on complex securities law issues arising out of a claim made under an insurance policy issued to an investment dealer. The claimed loss related to a settlement entered into by the insured investment dealer and a provincial securities regulator, and raised issues of whether the underlying events during the regulatory investigation and settlement agreement fell within the ambit of the policy.
