Michael has a complex commercial litigation practice that focuses on corporate and securities related cases, including contractual and shareholder disputes, professional negligence claims, investigations and proceedings before securities regulators, employment litigation, oppression, fraud, investment loss claims, insurance-related litigation, and class actions. Michael has a broad background in civil litigation and also has experience litigating cases in the areas of insolvency, estates, internet and cyber liability, pensions, real estate, condominiums, construction and intellectual property.
Michael regularly represents clients before courts and regulatory tribunals. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario as well as the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and the Mutual Fund Dealers Association (MFDA), and also has experience in commercial arbitration. Michael also regularly volunteers as pro bono duty counsel to unrepresented litigants at the Superior Court of Justice and Small Claims Court.
Michael joined the firm in 2014 after articling and then practicing as a litigation associate at a major national law firm. Before going to law school, Michael worked for a major commercial real estate brokerage firm.
